According to Ireporter Online, the Lead Pastor of Kingsways International Christian Centre (KICC), Matthew Ashimolowo, has urged Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu in the country’s battle against insecurity. Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Ashimolowo said the president has shown clear determination to confront security threats but requires collective national support to succeed.

The clergyman acknowledged the nation’s ongoing struggle with bandits, terrorists and other criminal elements, stressing that resolving the crisis demands unity and a renewed commitment from citizens. He encouraged Nigerians to back recent government efforts aimed at strengthening security agencies, increasing manpower and boosting national pride.

Ashimolowo described Nigerians as resilient and courageous people, expressing confidence that the country’s leadership is working toward meaningful progress. He appealed for widespread support for President Tinubu’s security initiatives, saying such cooperation is vital in securing the nation’s future.

He further recommended that members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) receive basic security training to contribute to national defence, insisting that Nigeria must deploy all available resources to confront rising threats.

Commenting on the debate over state policing, Ashimolowo cautioned that while the idea might appear beneficial, it could be misused by political figures to harass or intimidate opponents if not carefully regulated. He warned that any state-controlled force must be safeguarded against becoming a political weapon.
