Dollar–Naira Exchange Rate Update For December 28, 2025
The naira continued to trade weakly against the United States dollar at the parallel market on Saturday, December 27, 2025, reflecting ongoing pressure on Nigeria’s foreign exchange market. According to Ireporter Online, checks conducted among Bureau De Change operators in Lagos showed that the dollar was sold for as high as ₦1,475, while buyers purchased the greenback at approximately ₦1,467.
Market operators noted that the exchange rate fluctuates across locations and dealers, depending on demand and supply dynamics. As a result, the prices at which individuals buy or sell foreign currency may differ slightly from prevailing figures reported by currency traders.
Meanwhile, official figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria indicate a lower exchange rate for the dollar within the formal market. Data obtained by Ireporter Online revealed that the apex bank recorded the highest official exchange rate at ₦1,455 per dollar, while the lowest stood at ₦1,435.
The Central Bank of Nigeria has consistently maintained that it does not recognize transactions carried out in the parallel market. The regulator has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to conduct their transactions through licensed commercial banks and other approved financial institutions.
Economic analysts continue to monitor movements in the foreign exchange market, as fluctuations in the naira’s value have significant implications for inflation, imports, and overall economic stability.
