According to Ireporter Online, Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Grace Nation International, also known as Liberation City, has announced a temporary break from his ministerial duties. The announcement was made during the church’s New Year service on Thursday, with Okafor delegating responsibilities to four pastors—Pastor Sylvester, Pastor Kelvin, Pastor Oliver, and Shadrach—throughout January 2026.

The decision comes amid public calls for the cleric to step down following reports of sexual allegations from former church members and a reported relationship scandal involving actress Doris Ogala. It remains unclear whether the minister’s leave is directly connected to these controversies.

Okafor explained that the break would allow him and his wife to rest, noting that they have not had a personal retreat or honeymoon since their wedding. “We have four Sundays in January, so these pastors will minister and anoint the congregation each Sunday. While they lead, I will be resting, focusing on a personal retreat with God, and spending time with my wife,” he stated.

The controversy surrounding the pastor intensified after a video of his engagement surfaced online, sparking public debate and calls for accountability.
