Oyo Police Arrest Three Suspects Over Alleged Cement Diversion In Ibadan

According to Ireporter Online, the Oyo State Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with the alleged diversion of a cement consignment in Soka, Ibadan. The cement, reportedly concealed in a Dangote truck, was stolen and redirected from its intended delivery point.

Deputy Superintendent Ayanlade Olayinka, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that intelligence received on December 31, 2025, at Sanyo Division revealed that 900 bags of cement had been unlawfully removed from their original destination. Preliminary investigations indicated that the goods had already been sold but were subsequently recovered.

Olayinka disclosed that the consignment was originally meant for Adewole Area in Ilorin, Kwara State. Investigation showed that the cement was sold to two residents of Ibadan, identified as 29-year-old Durodola Ifeoluwa and 31-year-old Nafisat Moruf. The truck driver, 26-year-old Usman Jubril, along with the alleged recipients, were promptly arrested by operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer.

The recovered cement, valued at approximately N18 million, and the truck have been secured at the police station. The suspects have admitted involvement in the crime and are cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues. They are expected to be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.

Olayinka added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, praised the prompt intelligence and response by the police team, commending the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for strengthening intelligence-led policing nationwide. CP Haruna reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting property, ensuring accountability, and bringing offenders to justice.

The Oyo State Police Command urged the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, assuring that all efforts would be made to safeguard lives and property.
