El-Rufai’s Bail Hearing Shifted As Court Adjourns To June

According to Ireporter Online, a Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the first week of June 2026. The matter, which is before Justice Darius Khobo, was moved to the new date during proceedings held on Tuesday at the Kaduna Judicial Division.

The former governor is currently facing multiple charges bordering on alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). He arrived at the court premises around 9 a.m. in a convoy, accompanied by operatives of anti-corruption agencies and personnel of the Department of State Services, while security presence around the court was significantly heightened to maintain order.

During the proceedings, supporters of the former governor were seen gathered outside the courtroom, as security operatives closely monitored the environment to prevent any form of disruption. Following the adjournment, El-Rufai’s counsel, Ukpon Akpan, expressed dissatisfaction over what he described as repeated delays in the bail hearing, suggesting that the situation may be politically motivated. The court is expected to continue proceedings when it reconvenes in June, while El-Rufai has also alleged a fresh attempt to implicate him in criminal activities, claiming there are coordinated efforts to tarnish his reputation and prolong his detention.
