2027: “Everyone Is Free To Run For Any Position In NDC” — Seriake Dickson Declares Political Openness
According to Ireporter Online, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has declared that all aspirants within the party are free to contest for any political position ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that the party operates an open and inclusive structure without internal restrictions.
Speaking at the NDC’s inaugural national convention in Abuja on Saturday, Dickson stated that the party currently has no factions or ongoing legal disputes, adding that all members remain united and committed to a common political agenda. He maintained that there are no rival groups within the party and that every member is constitutionally empowered to pursue leadership ambitions in the forthcoming elections.
He further emphasized that any attempt to restrict political participation within the party would be inconsistent with democratic principles and the constitutional right to freedom of association. Dickson also asserted that despite initial resistance, the NDC has firmly established itself as a political force to be reckoned with in Nigeria’s democratic space.
Boasting about the party’s rapid rise, he claimed that no political party in Nigeria’s recent history has attracted such levels of public acceptance, enthusiasm, and trust within a short period as the NDC has achieved. He reiterated that multiparty democracy must be protected and sustained in the country, noting that the NDC was formed following concerns that the Peoples Democratic Party had been compromised.
He also recounted the legal and administrative challenges the party faced before securing official registration from the Independent National Electoral Commission, which was eventually achieved through a court order.
