Reps Speaker Tajudeen Abbas Declares Fifth-Term Bid, Lists Major Achievements

According to Ireporter Online, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, on Saturday officially announced his intention to seek a fifth term as the representative of Zaria Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, pledging to consolidate on what he described as years of visible legislative and constituency achievements.

The declaration was made at the Mallawa Eid Ground in Zaria, where a large crowd of supporters, political associates, party loyalists, and community leaders gathered to witness the announcement. The event was preceded by a solidarity march that began at the Emir’s Palace in Zaria and passed through Babban Dodo, Lemu, Kofar Doka, and Tudun Wada before reaching the venue.

Abbas, who first entered the House of Representatives in 2011, used the occasion to reflect on his legislative journey, insisting that his representation had delivered tangible benefits to his constituency. He maintained that his political record was anchored on performance and measurable impact rather than political rhetoric.

He stated that his legislative work included the sponsorship of 74 bills, out of which 21 had been signed into law, adding that the initiatives were designed to address governance challenges and improve national development. According to him, his tenure in the National Assembly had been focused on lawmaking, constituency empowerment, and targeted interventions aimed at improving livelihoods.

Highlighting his constituency projects, Abbas noted that farmers in Zaria Federal Constituency had benefited from tractors, fertilisers, and other agricultural inputs to enhance food production and strengthen the local economy. He also said transport operators, youth groups, party structures, community leaders, and small-scale business owners had received support in the form of tricycles and motorcycles to boost mobility and income generation.

He further disclosed that 117 vehicles, 200 tricycles, and 1,000 motorcycles had been distributed across various communities and stakeholder groups within the constituency. In addition, he said 2,400 residents benefited from direct financial support, while 800 trained beneficiaries received ₦250,000 each and another 1,600 small business owners received ₦100,000 each to expand their economic activities.

Abbas emphasized that the interventions were part of a deliberate effort to deliver practical representation and improve the welfare of constituents, stressing that his re-election bid was aimed at sustaining and expanding ongoing development projects across Zaria Federal Constituency.
