Award-winning Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold has opened up about one of the most difficult moments of his life, revealing that he wished for death at the age of 20 after enduring a severe sickle cell crisis.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Angela Yee, the singer recounted the intense pain he experienced during what he described as the worst health crisis of his life. According to reports, the episode was so excruciating that he became overwhelmed and prayed for God to take his life.

Adekunle Gold explained that the situation was particularly alarming because his mother, who would normally discourage him from making such statements, was unable to object due to the gravity of the condition.

Reflecting on the experience, the singer said the suffering reached a point where death seemed like the only relief from the unbearable pain.
