Drama As Man Hides Inside ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ Bag In Married Woman’s House To Escape Arrest
Officers of the Hisbah Board in Kebbi State have arrested a man who was allegedly discovered hiding inside a “Ghana-Must-Go” bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.
According to Ireporter Online, the Director of Sharia at the board, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi, noting that the arrest followed a tip-off from residents of the area who reportedly observed suspicious movement around the woman’s home late at night.
Kamba explained that the board received a complaint around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, May 18, after residents raised concerns over the man’s repeated presence at the location, which they suspected could indicate an inappropriate relationship involving a married woman.
He said the Hisbah operatives were immediately deployed to investigate the report. Upon arrival, officers reportedly sought permission to search the premises, but the woman initially denied that anyone was inside the house.
However, after further insistence, she eventually granted access, leading to a thorough search of the building. During the operation, the man was allegedly found concealed inside a “Ghana-Must-Go” bag.
Kamba further stated that preliminary findings suggested the pair were involved in a romantic relationship, adding that both individuals were taken into custody and questioned.
He noted that the suspects allegedly admitted to the claims during interrogation and would be arraigned in court to face proceedings under Islamic law. Their identities were not disclosed, and authorities did not provide details on when they would be charged.
The development has sparked reactions among residents of the area, many of whom described the discovery as shocking.
The incident comes shortly after a similar operation by the Kano State Hisbah Board, where two women and a 35-year-old fish seller were arrested over alleged immoral conduct, further highlighting ongoing enforcement actions by the agency across northern states.
