2027: Abdulrazaq Backs Seriki For Kwara APC Governorship Ticket

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has publicly endorsed Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki as his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the governor announced his support for Seriki as the candidate he believes should secure the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket in the party’s primary election scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026.

AbdulRazaq said his decision was reached after extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across Kwara State. He described Seriki as a youthful and people-oriented leader with strong political acumen and a broad outlook.

The governor also praised Seriki as an effective political mobiliser, citing his investments in the state and the widespread goodwill he enjoys among residents.

He expressed confidence in Seriki’s ability to lead the state, stating that he is well-equipped for the responsibilities of office and that his emergence would align with the aspirations of the people of Kwara.

While endorsing Seriki, AbdulRazaq clarified that his decision should not be interpreted as a rejection of the other aspirants seeking the party’s ticket. He noted that all contenders are qualified and remain free to participate in the primary election.

The governor stressed that the contest involves several capable individuals but only one candidate can ultimately represent the party. He therefore urged party members and leaders to rally behind Seriki in the interest of unity, cohesion, and the continued success of the APC in Kwara State.
