PDP Refutes Rumours Of Blocking Aspirants, Confirms Form Sales Ongoing

The Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports alleging that presidential aspirants were being prevented from obtaining nomination forms ahead of its upcoming presidential primary election.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the faction’s spokesperson, Ini Ememobong, the claims circulating in public space were described as misleading and unfounded. He maintained that no directive was issued by the party leadership or its officials to obstruct any aspirant from participating in the nomination process.

Ememobong further stated that the Interim National Working Committee (NWC) is not aware of any incident involving the blocking of interested contenders, stressing that nomination forms remain accessible to eligible members within the approved process.

According to Ireporter Online, the faction explained that the party had recently reviewed and extended its electoral timetable following appeals from stakeholders requesting additional time to complete necessary procedures. It added that under the revised schedule, the deadline for the purchase and submission of completed nomination forms is set for Friday, May 22, 2026, while a special screening exercise for aspirants who are yet to be screened will hold on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

The faction also clarified that although the PDP has zoned its presidential ticket to the South, it cannot constitutionally restrict any qualified Nigerian from contesting elective office under its platform. It urged the public to disregard reports suggesting that aspirants were being denied access to nomination forms, insisting that the process remains open and within the stipulated timeframe.

The PDP reaffirmed that all genuinely interested aspirants are free to obtain, complete, and return their forms in line with the amended timetable, as preparations for the presidential primary continue.
