According to Ireporter Online, the Oyo State Police Command has dismissed claims that pupils, students, and teachers abducted during last Friday’s attack on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area have been rescued.

The Command clarified that the victims remain in captivity, stressing that security agencies are continuing coordinated operations aimed at securing their safe release and apprehending the perpetrators behind the attack.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, who urged members of the public to disregard circulating rumours suggesting that the abducted individuals had regained freedom.

The statement described the reports as false and misleading, noting that they had the potential to cause unnecessary panic and disrupt ongoing security efforts.

The Command appealed for calm and cooperation from residents, urging the public to support the joint security operation currently underway. It also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, warning that misinformation could heighten tension and divert critical resources needed for rescue efforts.

It further assured that verified updates would be communicated to the public as the situation develops, while advising individuals seeking authentic information to reach out through official police communication channels.
