Following Oyo School Abduction, Tinubu Approves 1,000 Forest Guards And Deploys Rescue Team

According to reports, a high-level Federal Government delegation visited the affected communities of Esiele and Yawota on Sunday to deliver the President’s message of solidarity and reassure residents that every necessary measure is being taken to rescue those still in captivity.

The victims were abducted on May 15, 2026, from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School, triggering widespread concern across the state and beyond.

The Presidency disclosed that Tinubu has directed the deployment of a specialised security unit equipped with advanced rescue capabilities to strengthen ongoing operations aimed at securing the release of the abducted pupils and teachers. The President also instructed that the mission be driven by credible intelligence and executed with careful coordination to maximise its effectiveness.

During the visit, the delegation informed community leaders and elected representatives that their request for the establishment of a military base in the area would be forwarded to the President for consideration.

The delegation was led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and included Nuhu Ribadu, Tunji Disu, Christopher Musa, and Sunday Dare.

Addressing residents in both English and Yoruba, Gbajabiamila conveyed the President’s deep concern over the incident, assuring families and community members that security agencies had been instructed to deploy all available resources to ensure the victims are rescued safely.

He emphasized that the government understands the anguish and uncertainty being experienced by affected families and expressed confidence that the abducted children and teachers would be reunited with their loved ones. He further explained that the rescue efforts would involve a combination of kinetic and non-kinetic strategies.

The delegation also paid a condolence visit to the palace of the Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye to sympathise with the traditional ruler and residents of Ogbomosoland over the tragic incident.

In addition, Gbajabiamila met with Mrs. Mary Oyedokun, the widow of a deceased schoolteacher, alongside her two children, where he delivered the President’s condolences and assured the family of the Federal Government’s continued support.
