According to Ireporter Online, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has criticised Arise Television anchor Arise News Rufai Oseni, accusing him of acting as an unofficial spokesperson for Labour Party figure Peter Obi and questioning his neutrality as a journalist.

Bwala made the remarks in a post on X, where he reacted to Oseni’s interrogation of Obi over his economic promises, particularly the former Anambra State governor’s pledge to increase Nigeria’s electricity generation and distribution capacity to at least 10,000 megawatts within four years if elected president in 2027. Obi had made the commitment shortly after emerging as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress at its national convention in Abuja.

During a recent media engagement, Oseni had pressed Obi on the feasibility of the power plan, a line of questioning that prompted Bwala to allege bias and suggest that the broadcaster was masking political alignment. He further urged Oseni to openly declare his political stance, proposing that he either take a sabbatical from Arise Television or step aside from journalism to join Obi’s campaign team, arguing that such a move would validate his perceived support for the opposition candidate.
