Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has urged young women to avoid measuring their worth by the amount of skin they reveal, stressing that confidence and self-respect are more enduring qualities than seeking validation through provocative appearances.

According to Ireporter Online, Bello shared the message during an interview on The Morayo Show hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where she addressed the growing pressure on young women to gain attention and popularity through social media trends. The interview, originally published on the show’s official YouTube channel on May 21, later gained widespread attention after clips circulated across various social media platforms.

Speaking on the issue, the actress encouraged young women to be mindful of the choices they make, emphasizing that attractiveness is not defined by revealing outfits or suggestive content. She maintained that true confidence and personal value should not be tied to online approval or viral moments, adding that young women do not need to expose their bodies to be considered beautiful or successful.

In the same interview, Bello also shared her perspective on commercial sex work, offering advice that sparked widespread discussion. She acknowledged that some women turn to prostitution because of financial hardship or family responsibilities, saying she does not judge those who make such decisions.

The actress stated that anyone involved in sex work should carry themselves with dignity and self-respect, regardless of their circumstances. However, she stressed that it should only be viewed as a temporary means of survival rather than a permanent lifestyle.

Bello noted that many young women take such paths to support their families or meet pressing financial obligations, expressing understanding for their situations while encouraging them to seek opportunities that would allow them to build a different future and eventually leave the profession behind.
