The naira continued to trade at a premium in the parallel foreign exchange market on Sunday, July 5, 2026, with the United States dollar exchanging at ₦1,410 for sellers and ₦1,395 for buyers, according to market information obtained from Bureau De Change operators in Lagos.

The latest figures indicate that the black market, popularly referred to as the Aboki FX market, remains active despite the Central Bank of Nigeria’s stance against transactions outside the official foreign exchange window. The apex bank has consistently maintained that it does not recognize the parallel market and has advised individuals and businesses seeking foreign exchange to conduct transactions through authorized commercial banks and other approved financial institutions.

Meanwhile, data from the official market showed that the Central Bank of Nigeria’s exchange rate ranged between a high of ₦1,373 per dollar and a low of ₦1,369 during the same period.

Foreign exchange dealers noted that exchange rates in both the parallel and official markets remain subject to fluctuations, with actual buying and selling prices varying across locations and individual transactions depending on prevailing market conditions.
