We Want To Be The Best In The World’ – Arteta Reveals Arsenal’s EPL Plan

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that the club’s ultimate ambition is to become the best football club in the world as the Gunners prepare to begin their 2026/27 Premier League title defence.

According to Ireporter Online, Arteta made the disclosure ahead of Arsenal’s opening league fixture against newly promoted Coventry on Friday, August 21.

The upcoming campaign marks a significant moment for Arsenal, as the club begins a Premier League season as defending champions for the first time in 22 years.

Arteta, who previously worked under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City before taking charge of Arsenal in 2019, said the club’s ambitions extend beyond domestic success.

“It’s certainly the ambition of the club and the owners to be the best club in the world,” Arteta said.

He explained that achieving such a status would require Arsenal to maintain high standards across all areas, including its facilities, stadium, supporters, squad and recruitment.

“In order to do that, you need the best facilities, the best stadium, the best supporters, and you need the best squad and the best players in the world,” he added.

Arteta said Arsenal would continue developing its current squad while also bringing in players capable of making a significant difference to the team.

The Spanish tactician is also aiming to build on last season’s success after Arsenal finally ended their long wait for the Premier League title.

The Gunners will now attempt to achieve consecutive league titles, something the club has not accomplished since the 1930s.

Arteta acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining the required standard but insisted that his players remain hungry for further success.

“It’s very difficult. You have to raise the level from every angle,” he said.

The Arsenal manager added that the determination within his squad gives him confidence heading into the new campaign.

“When I look into the eyes of my players, I see that fire, that desire and the will to be better every single day,” Arteta stated.
