NPFL Clubs To Share 60% Of $7.5m Sponsorship Deal

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs are set to receive 60 per cent of the league’s new $7.5 million three-year title sponsorship agreement with EUROMATCH as part of efforts to improve players’ welfare and strengthen domestic football.

According to Ireporter Online, the deal, worth $2.5 million annually, was unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday, with EUROMATCH becoming the league’s new title sponsor.

NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye disclosed that 60 per cent of the sponsorship proceeds would go directly to participating clubs. He said the clubs are expected to channel the additional revenue towards better salaries and improved welfare for players.

Elegbeleye explained that the agreement would generate $7.5 million over three seasons and could provide a major financial boost to clubs across the league.

He stressed that players remain the biggest attraction in football and should therefore benefit directly from the league’s growing commercial value.

The NPFL chairman said the improved finances would support ongoing reforms in areas including club management, broadcasting, branding and commercial development.

Former Sports Minister and Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, also described the agreement as evidence that efforts to transform Nigerian sports into a viable business were beginning to yield results.

Dare said the sponsorship represented a significant development for the NPFL and could contribute to the growth of the league, while also strengthening Nigeria’s national teams through improved domestic football structures.

Nigeria Football Federation President Ibrahim Gusau welcomed the agreement, describing it as an important development for Nigerian football.

EUROMATCH Group Chairman Sadi Semih also expressed optimism about the partnership, saying the company viewed the agreement as a strategic investment capable of creating sustainable value and improving the NPFL’s international profile.

The sponsorship comes ahead of the 2026/27 NPFL season as football authorities intensify efforts to improve the financial strength and commercial appeal of the domestic league.

The National Sports Commission has also indicated that the 2026/27 NPFL champions are expected to receive a record ₦1 billion prize, further increasing the financial incentives available to clubs.
