We Must Hold Our Elected Leaders Responsible -Saliu Mustapha Speaks On Electing Quality Leaders

A front line aspirant for the position of APC national chairman, Mallam Saliu Mustapha has called for a reorientation of citizens as it relates to governance, according to him the people deserve the kind of leadership they get based on their characters.

The APC party chieftain made this assertion during a Channels TV interview on the “2023 Presidential Race And Electing Quality Leaders For The Next Dispensation”.

Mallam Mustapha opined that when the citizens start taking up the challenges of tasking their representatives on what they are doing with their given mandates then the country would be set for a rebirth.

Saliu Mustapha further tasked the citizens to stop the practice of sycophancy on elected administrators by celebrating such elected officials while still in office, according to him, elected leaders should be celebrated after their tenure and not when in service as that is the only way we can access them and judge them according to their performance.

He decried a situation whereby an official is elected and immediately his old schoolmates, friends and bootlickers would start celebrating his emergence even when the said official is yet to start service delivery to the populace.

The APC top contender for the national chairmanship position stated clearly that the citizens should decide who rules them and as a matter of fact, take their destiny into their hands by questioning and criticizing government officials in power insisting that the society reflects the kind of leadership of the country, he stated that its high time we hold our elective representatives and ourselves as citizens responsible for good governance.

On his aspiration, Mallam Mustapha said he is coming in to do things differently stating that he would promote internal democracy and ensure popular candidates with clear visions emerges for all elective positions across the federation.

Speaking on Buhari’s administration, Mallam Saliu Mustapha said the president has done very well as regards where the country was before his emergence, according to him the president has built strong institutions and has successfully tackled some fundamental issues like corruption and its like.
