2023: Dennis Idahosa’s Reelection Bid Receives Boost From Community Elders, Women, Youths
Mr Dennis Idahosa’s (APC-Edo) reelection bid received a major boost on Friday when elders, women, and youths from the Iguobazuwa community pledged their full support ahead of the February 25, 2023 National Assembly (NASS) elections.
They spoke through various representatives at a meeting in Iguobazuwa, the administrative headquarters of Edo’s Ovia South West Local Government Area.
They stated that they decided to pledge their support in order to encourage him by putting their weight behind his reelection.
Idahosa, according to the community, has fulfilled the biblical saying that “when the righteous one is on the throne, the people rejoice.”
They pointed out that, despite being a first-timer at the NASS, the Ovia federal constituency representative has proven all doubters wrong with his stewardship in less than four years.
Osaro Abbifade, the community’s youth leader, who referred to the lawmaker as “Ovia Liberator,” stated that the youths would fully mobilize in his support for the election.
“We have so mamy reasons why we are totally supporting him; he is from Iguobazuwa, a youth and more importantly, a performer.
“We the youths are ready to mobilise 95 percent votes for him to emerge victorious come February 25, 2023,” he stated.
Mrs Ayowiehen Omokaro, speaking on behalf of the women, stated that the lawmaker’s support for the cause of women in the constituency has made it necessary for them to reciprocate.
She said:”The women and youths have been the greatest beneficiaries of his numerous empowerment programs and we will thank him very loudly with our votes.”
Pa Edward Edoghayobare, the Odionwere (Clan Head) of Iguobazuwa, stated that the community would not consider any other candidate besides Idahosa.
The clan head, who immediately bestowed the lawmaker with the title “Adolor of Iguobazuwa” (Someone who brings peace and development), promises to do everything in his power to ensure his reappearance as the Ovia representatives for the second time.
“He has proven to be a true son of the soil, hence Iguobazuwa community don’t have any other candidate for House of Representatives except Dennis Idahosa,” he said.
Idahosa, the chairman of the House Committee on Legislative Compliance, responded by promising to always work for the good of the people.
