2023: See The Full Declaration Speech Of Sam Aiboni For Eti-Osa Federal Constituency That Gets Everyone Talking

Over 150 years ago Abraham Lincoln delivered one of the best-known and most beloved speeches in American history. Ever since political officer seekers have taken it as a duty to make good speeches reflecting what they intend to achieve for their people.

A House of Reps aspirant for Etin Osa Federal Constituency, and top legal luminary, Sam Aiboni has gotten everyone talking with his awesome declaration speech under the People Democratic Party, PDP seeking a seat at the Green Chambers.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Party Leaders, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be in your midst today.
I’d like to start by telling a short story we all are quite familiar with.
Since 1960 when Nigeria became an independent state, the year 2020 witnessed a sweeping phenomenon almost unprecedented in the annals of our history as a nation.
We saw Nigerian youths, for the first time, band together all over the country, without recourse to tribal, political or religious sentiments to demand for one thing: Better Governance across the board.

From Sabon Gari in Kano to Rumuokoro in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Ede in Osun, Awkuzu in Anambra State and the Lekki Toll Gate in our dear Eti-Osa in Lagos, we witnessed first-hand the unyielding spirit and unrelenting zest that has come to characterize what young people stand for across this country.
Sadly, this organic mass movement was abruptly truncated on the night of 20th of October 2020,
with bullets and in turn the blood of some of these young people at the Toll Gate.
My Dear Party Leaders, it is quite instructive that this incident occurred in Eti-Osa, our home.
We saw our young people running what I’d like to describe as a microcosm of Nigeria at the Toll Plaza before the events of that night.
They mobilized and provided shelter, food, security and emergency health services by themselves. They did all of these while demanding for better leadership across all strata of government and governance in Nigeria.
Dear Party Leaders, the Endsars movement might have been crushed but the capacity of young people across this country, particularly in Lagos state to get involved in our political process has been trotted to the fore.

This is indeed a watershed moment in our history as a nation and as a state and we cannot afford to miss this great opportunity. There has been a political awakening of our youths, very important demography that forms close to 70 percent of our population.

I believe it is time to harness this consciousness and get them and everyone else further involved in our politics as a Party and as a nation. It is not improbable; we all saw this synergy first-hand in 2020.
My resolve and believe come from what I’ll describe as an unassailable fact, which is that Party politics is critical to National Development and Nation Building, especially as government and
governance in Nigeria is anchored on this fundamental aspect of our democracy.
And until our constitution is changed or amended, political parties remain the most robust pathway to Leadership and meaningful change in a society like ours. We all need to get involved, right from the grassroots.
But aside from getting young people and every other person to join in the task of building our constituency, state and ultimately Nigeria, it is time to have viable and quality representation, especially at the National Assembly.

The National Assembly is arguably the Grundnorm in the Nigerian jurisprudence. This is where the laws and letters that fuel our democracy and power our economic growth are promulgated.
I’ve seen and I know we have all seen the quality of the thoughts that sometimes come from this hallowed chamber.
I believe there is an urgent need to raise the bar and the quality of discussions at the National Assembly. Enough of the jamboree and mundane politicking that are inimical to the growth of the nation and the wellbeing of Nigerians.
The National Assembly should not just be a rubber stamp, wielded at will in the hands of the Executive.
We need to get these two arms of the government working effectively and as separate entities. The National Assembly should be tuned and focused on creating the legal framework required to deliver the needed development for Nigeria.
Furthermore, the future of Nigeria remains in the Digital Economy with Digital Literacy as a driving force. Dear Party Leaders the future is now.
We see the wonders young Nigerians are doing in tech and with tech in the digital space and I am confident the sky would not be their limit with the right systemic support that addresses fundamental issues like laws and legal instruments bogging them down.
Also, the Endsars movement in terms of coordination was spearheaded by women in different capacities. This show of courage has reiterated and reinforced the fact that long gone are the days where women were relegated to just caregivers at home.
Women have been breaking and continue to shatter all types of glass ceilings from boardrooms to the streets. So, it was with great shock that I received the news that the House of Reps rejected 5 gender bills were forged to give more prominence to women in Nigeria during voting on the constitution amendment bills.
Although the House has made a U-turn on three of these bills, it only goes to show how imperative it is to take deliberate steps backed by the law to break the bias against women.

A few days ago, we celebrated women on an international level but I don’t believe we truly celebrate them on a local level here in Nigeria. This would involve being more inclusive in allowing them roles in the political environment.
We see the likes of Kamala Harris who broke the bias by being the first female VP in the US. We need to give more women chances to grow and rise through the system.
Finally, I believe with a National Assembly and House of Representatives geared at problem-solving with adequate laws, our security, infrastructural, economic and national Unity challenges would be addressed to a very large extent.
It is based on the foregoing that I want to let you know that I have decided to seek nomination and candidacy for the position of the member representing Eti-Osa Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives on the platform of our great party.
Dear friends and Party Leaders, I am here today because I want what is best for Eti-Osa and Nigeria at Large.
I know and I am certain that with your support, we can bring about real progress that would cut across every sphere and facet of our constituency and country at large.
Let’s embrace this truth and speak this truth.
