“We are now looking at 24 months to finish the project. We are assured of financing by the minister, and the contractors have reassured that they are going to come back,” said Umahi.
He commended the progress made on the road and highlighted the signing of outstanding certificates totaling N17 billion, with an additional N33 billion in the processing stage, ensuring funding stability.
Providing insights into the project, Umahi stated that the completed section from Abuja to Kaduna covers 165 kilometers, with 45 kilometers already finished.
The total route length is 375 miles dualized, equivalent to 715 kilometers of a central lane.
Umahi further outlined the remaining segments, noting the completion of Kaduna to Zaria and the remaining 20 kilometers between Zaria and Kano.
Additionally, there are 40 to 38 kilometers from the zero point and another 82 kilometers yet to be completed between Abuja and Kaduna. The revised timeline and the secured funding aim to accelerate the progress and timely completion of this vital dual carriageway project.
