2027: Ahmed Galadima Secures Adamawa APC Ticket
According to Ireporter Online, Ahmed Galadima has emerged as the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general election.
The declaration was made on Friday by the chairman of the APC governorship primary committee in the state. Galadima secured a total of 414,444 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abdulrazak Namdas, who polled 86,004 votes, while Abdulrahman Haske scored 65,934 votes.
His victory followed the withdrawal of three aspirants in his favour prior to the primary election. The aspirants who stepped down include Engr. Diaulhaq Abubakar, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, and Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Thul.
Galadima had earlier resigned from his role as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) about two months ago to focus on his gubernatorial ambition under the APC platform.
In a related development, the Rivers State chapter of the APC has dismissed claims suggesting that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, influenced Governor Siminalayi Fubara to abandon his second-term governorship ambition.
Governor Fubara had earlier announced his withdrawal from the Rivers State governorship race in a personally signed statement titled “My Decision to Withdraw from the Rivers State Gubernatorial Primaries,” citing extensive consultations with family members, political allies, and stakeholders. He stated that his decision was driven by the need to prioritise peace, stability, and unity in the state over personal political interests.
Reacting to the development, the APC Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Chibuike Ikenga, said in an interview on ARISE Television that the governor’s decision was reached through mutual agreement in the interest of the state. He added that neither Wike nor any individual influenced the outcome, stressing that the decision was collectively taken to ensure peace and progress in Rivers State.
Ikenga further noted that while Wike remains a significant political figure, he does not control the internal decisions of the party in the state, maintaining that the resolution was strictly in the interest of stability and development.
