Crisis Hits ADC As Youths Protest Alleged Plot Against Idoma Bloc

According to Ireporter Online, a major crisis has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State following rising tensions over the party’s governorship zoning arrangement ahead of the 2027 elections. The situation escalated after a group of aggrieved youths reportedly stormed the office of ADC chieftain, Samson Okwu, accusing him of working in alignment with Tiv political interests to allegedly sideline the Idoma bloc from producing the party’s governorship candidate. The protesters, carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, insisted that the Idoma people of Benue South deserve a fair opportunity to secure the party’s ticket, warning against any arrangement that would marginalize them.

Amid the growing unrest, ADC National Chairman, David Mark, has remained silent on the development, a situation that has further deepened suspicion and heightened political tension within the party’s ranks in the state. The crisis reportedly worsened in Okpokwu Local Government Area following claims that the local chairman of the party was abducted by unknown persons, triggering panic among members.

In response to the security concerns, heavily armed police officers were said to have taken over the ADC secretariat in Okpoga to prevent a breakdown of law and order. Meanwhile, another party figure, Ejembi Adaje, has called for the outright cancellation of the party’s primary election in the Enone area, alleging widespread irregularities and insisting that the process did not reflect the true will of genuine party members.
