“51 Foreigners Deported As Nigeria Battles Rising Cybercrime”

The Federal Government has repatriated 51 foreign nationals convicted of cyber-terrorism, internet fraud, and other related crimes.

According to iReporter Online, this operation was coordinated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

The EFCC confirmed the development in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, revealing that the deportees include 50 Chinese nationals and one Tunisian.

According to iReporter Online, this recent action has increased the total number of foreigners repatriated since August 15 to 102.

Earlier, on August 17, the government deported 42 foreign nationals—comprising Chinese and Philippine citizens—convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The EFCC had arrested 759 individuals, including several foreigners, during a major raid on Oyin Jolayemi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, on December 10, 2024.

According to iReporter Online, the convicts are part of a large foreign-led cybercrime syndicate dismantled in Lagos following actionable intelligence, the statement also mentioned that further deportations are planned in the coming days.
