Mamman Daura, the most senior member of the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has extended heartfelt appreciation to Nigerians and world leaders for their outpouring of support, solidarity, and prayers during the family’s period of mourning. According to IREPORTER ONLINE, Daura expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Buhari family for the overwhelming compassion shown by citizens from all walks of life, stating that the collective empathy helped cushion the pain of Buhari’s passing.

In a public message conveyed through presidential spokesman Garba Shehu, Daura acknowledged the comforting role played by President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during the solemn events. He noted that the presence and condolences of Nigeria’s highest-ranking leaders, including the Federal Executive Council, lawmakers at both national and state levels, as well as former and sitting governors, brought strength and comfort to the bereaved family. According to IREPORTER ONLINE, the family particularly appreciated Vice President Kashim Shettima’s efforts, including his trip to the United Kingdom and his extended stay in Daura during the mourning period.

Daura praised President Tinubu’s thoughtful decision to declare a public holiday and rename the University of Maiduguri after the late president as lasting gestures of honour. He also extended appreciation to international dignitaries, including King Charles III of England, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, the Chairman of the African Union, ECOWAS leaders, and Nigeria’s former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, for their condolences, letters, phone calls, and official visits.

Describing the death of Buhari as an irreplaceable loss, Daura admitted that the widespread goodwill and kind words offered by so many were a balm to the wounds left by his passing. He acknowledged Vice President Shettima and his wife, former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar, Namadi Sambo, Yemi Osinbajo, and Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, as well as Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and other legislative leaders for their visits and messages.

Their physical presence and messages of sympathy were described as deeply touching.

According to IREPORTER ONLINE, Daura also acknowledged the gestures of notable Nigerian business leaders such as Aliko Dangote, Abdul Samad Rabiu, Muhammadu Indimi, Dahiru Mangal, Kola Adesina, and Nasiru Danu, who traveled to Daura to express their condolences in person. Daura concluded by saying the Buhari family remains eternally grateful to everyone who offered support through visits, messages, and prayers. He prayed that Almighty Allah would bless and reward all those who stood with them, adding that the family would draw strength from this overwhelming national and global embrace as they continue to mourn their patriarch.
