Abducted Kebbi High Court Judge Regains Freedom After Days In Captivity

Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, a High Court judge in Kebbi State who was abducted about a week ago, has regained his freedom and returned safely to his family.

According to Ireporter Online, the judge arrived at his residence on Monday after spending several days in the custody of his abductors.

A family source confirmed his release, expressing relief and appreciation following his safe return.

The family thanked individuals, organisations, security agencies and the Kebbi State Judiciary for their support, prayers and efforts during the period the judge was missing.

The abduction of Justice Bunza had generated concern across Kebbi State, with residents and stakeholders urging security authorities to intensify efforts to secure his release.

Although details surrounding the circumstances of his freedom remain unclear, including whether any negotiations were held or if ransom demands were met, the family said further information would be provided at a later time.

Recall that the kidnappers had reportedly demanded ₦200 million as ransom for the judge’s release.

In a statement, the family expressed gratitude to all those who stood by them during the challenging period.

“We sincerely thank and appreciate the Kebbi State Judiciary, the security agencies, and the entire people of Kebbi State who contributed in different ways, offered prayers, and sent messages of sympathy. Your concern and support gave us strength, and we are grateful for your solidarity,” a family member stated.
