Politicians May Mislead Tinubu, But Bishops Will Tell Him The Truth”

According to Ireporter Online, Kalu stated that religious leaders, particularly Catholic bishops, have a strong understanding of the challenges experienced by citizens because of their close relationship with communities across the country.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the senator acknowledged that Nigerians are facing genuine difficulties but argued that the situation should not be attributed solely to President Tinubu’s administration.

Kalu noted that religious leaders have an important responsibility to provide honest feedback to government officials and communicate the concerns of ordinary Nigerians.

He explained that while politicians may sometimes present situations differently to leaders, bishops are more likely to give a direct account of the realities experienced by citizens.

The former governor described the bishops’ visit to the President as a positive step, adding that such discussions could help government officials better understand public concerns and make informed decisions.

“The Catholic bishops are aware of the situation in the country. There are real difficulties in Nigeria, but they are not President Tinubu’s fault. The Catholic bishops’ visit to President Tinubu is a good one,” Kalu said.

He added that religious leaders would continue to play a vital role in ensuring that leaders receive truthful assessments of national issues.

“Even if we politicians can lie to him, the bishops will tell him the truth about the current reality of the country,” the senator stated.
