the State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, emphasized the Governor’s dedication to supporting the workforce.

Kanu stated that the new minimum wage will take effect at the end of October 2024. “Payment of the minimum wage will commence in the next few days, as approved by the Governor,” he noted.

Meanwhile, civil servants in Osun State have expressed their frustration over the delays in implementing the newly approved minimum wage by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration. Reports from Naija News indicate that several civil servants voiced their concerns to journalists in Osogbo on Monday, highlighting that the execution of the minimum wage is significantly overdue.

One employee, Opemipo, shared her disappointment, stating that the workforce in Osun had been eagerly waiting for the announcement of the new minimum wage. She questioned the cause of the delay, noting that neighboring states have already implemented theirs. “This economic hardship is becoming unbearable, and I urge Gov. Adeleke to act quickly,” she said.

Another civil servant, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed disbelief that their state was not among the first to implement the new wage. He lamented that the current salaries are insufficient to support their families amid the ongoing economic challenges.
