Abure Camp Exposes Nenadi Usman: Claims She’s Riding Obi’s Wave Without Loyalty!”

The camp of Labour Party (LP) National Chairman, Julius Abure, has dismissed the idea of handing over the party’s affairs to former Minister of Finance, Nenadi Usman, asserting that she is not a recognized member of the party.

Speaking in an interview with The Punch, LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, challenged Usman’s membership status, especially following her recent suspension by the Abure-led National Working Committee. Others suspended for alleged anti-party activities include Abia State Governor Alex Otti, FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe, caretaker secretary Senator Darlington Nwokocha, and lawmakers Victor Ogene, Amobi Ogah, and Seyi Sowumi.

Ifoh maintained that it would be absurd and a violation of the party’s constitution to entrust its leadership to someone he described as an outsider. He labelled Usman an impostor allegedly colluding with political enemies to undermine the party.

“Anyone can make claims,” Ifoh said. “That woman came in as part of the Obidient movement, supporting Peter Obi. She led his campaign in Kaduna. But as everyone knows, Obi didn’t rely on LP members for his campaign — he built a separate team from the Obidient movement. That’s where our issues with him began.

“She (Usman) joined through Obi’s campaign but refused to register properly in her ward. Her name doesn’t appear in the party’s official compendium submitted to INEC or in the electronic membership records. Even during the revalidation exercise, she didn’t participate. Just calling meetings and distributing campaign materials doesn’t qualify one as a registered member.”

In response, Nenadi Usman strongly denied the allegations, asserting her legitimacy as a card-carrying member of the party.

“I am a registered member of the Labour Party from Jere South ward, Kagarko Local Government Area in Kaduna State,” she said. “My ward chairman is Shehu. I even financed the printing of membership cards for my area, which I arranged through Clement Ojukwu.

“No one told me at the time that I wasn’t welcome in the party. After joining, I encouraged others to do the same. Unless my local ward disowns me, I don’t believe anyone in Abuja has the right to question my membership.”
