Dr. Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso, the former commissioner for rural and community development and an APC chieftain, advised Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to accept the judgment of the governorship election tribunal gracefully.

He urged him not to pursue the matter further in either the Appeal or Supreme court, citing a lack of convincing evidence to overturn the tribunal’s decision.

Following the tribunal’s ruling that declared Dr. Gawuna Yusuf of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner, Dr. Kwankwaso also celebrated his own victory in the House of Representatives, as the tribunal upheld his petition against Dr. Yusuf Datti of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP).

This victory was based on the grounds that Dr. Datti was not qualified to contest the election due to his failure to resign from his position at Bayero University Kano.

Dr. Kwankwaso emphasized that the APC’s victory was a manifestation of divine intervention, supported by compelling evidence that left no room for doubt. He further advised his political colleague, the former NNPP presidential candidate, to counsel Alhaji Abba Yusuf against pursuing the matter in the Appeal court. Instead, he encouraged them to unite with the tribunal’s winner to advance the progress of the state.

While acknowledging that Yusuf retains the constitutional right to seek legal redress, Dr. Kwankwaso cautioned against the continued expenditure of the state’s limited resources on a pursuit that may not yield results.

He emphasized that Kano’s progress is a collective responsibility, transcending political affiliations, and called for unified efforts with Dr. Gawuna to propel the state towards greater heights.
