The Adamawa State Police Command has dismantled a notorious seven-man gang responsible for a series of tricycle and motorcycle thefts within Yola metropolis.

In a statement released on Thursday and signed by police spokesperson Sulaiman Nguroje, the Command revealed that the arrest followed a coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID).

The operation led to the apprehension of Mohammed Alhaji, 25, from Hulere Ward in Yola North. During interrogation, Alhaji confessed to being part of a criminal network involved in stealing and selling tricycles and motorcycles.

Further investigations uncovered the involvement of 19-year-old Jafar Babangida, who had stolen two TVS tricycles. One was sold to Ziyau Garba, 38, of Sangere, and the other to Bawuro Ibrahim, 37, of Vinikilang. Both men resold the tricycles to another suspect, Sahabi Mohammed, 35, also of Vinikilang in Girei LGA.

All suspects have been arrested and have voluntarily confessed. The police have confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to retrieve more stolen items and arrest other accomplices.
