Kaduna Police Kill Two Robbers, Arrest Two in Midnight Gun Battle
The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed a successful midnight operation that thwarted an armed robbery attack on Gashash Estate, Barnawa, leading to the deaths of two robbers and the arrest of two others.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded around 3:10 a.m. when eight armed men invaded the estate, terrorizing residents and stealing valuables including laptops, phones, jewelry, and gaming consoles.
A swift distress call mobilized a joint security response led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Barnawa Division. The team included officers from Kakuri and Sabon Tasha divisions and personnel from the Nigerian Army’s 312 Artillery Regiment, Kalapanzi.
The gang was intercepted at Makera Main Road, Kakuri. Upon sighting the operatives, the robbers opened fire, resulting in a fierce exchange. Two suspects were fatally neutralized, while two others were captured alive. A locally made pistol, ammunition, and other weapons were recovered.
DSP Mansir Hassan, spokesperson for the command, confirmed the operation and noted that one police officer sustained injuries and is receiving treatment.
Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad commended the bravery and quick coordination of all security units involved, including the Department of State Services (DSS), and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to hunting down the remaining fugitives.
