Adeboye explained that upon joining the RCCG, wearing earrings was discouraged, prompting her to give up her love for fashion entirely. “Every woman loves fashion. The moment we were born again then in RCCG, it was a taboo for you to have earrings. So everything, I dropped it in the lagoon,” she revealed.

The items she discarded included not only her personal gold jewellery but also pieces she had intended for her child. Adeboye emphasized that the decision stemmed from a conviction that the items no longer aligned with her spiritual beliefs.

She also recounted that a family acquaintance questioned her actions, suggesting she could have given the jewellery to her mother to sell. However, Adeboye maintained that her choice was guided by faith. “Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she said.
