Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has alleged that the state’s incumbent governor, Hyacinth Alia, was directly involved in the reported blockade of the convoy of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi.

According to Ireporter Online, Ortom described the incident as a deliberate attempt to obstruct Obi’s convoy and claimed that Governor Alia himself was involved in the action.

The former governor made the allegation on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

Ortom further challenged Alia to publicly deny the allegation, insisting that the governor could not distance himself from the incident.

“It was a deliberate attempt. He did it — Alia himself is involved in this. He cannot deny that,” Ortom said.

The allegation comes amid political tensions surrounding Obi and his activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

Ortom did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the alleged blockade during the interview, while the claims against Governor Alia remain allegations.
