Amorim Questions Rashford’s Advisors’ Decisions

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has raised concerns about the “decisions” made by those surrounding forward Marcus Rashford, as his tenure at Old Trafford may be nearing its conclusion…READ MORE…

The 27-year-old England international missed his third consecutive match on Sunday during a disappointing 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth.

Rashford had also been left out of the squad for the derby victory against Manchester City earlier this month, as well as for Thursday’s League Cup quarter-final loss to Tottenham.

Just two days prior to the defeat against Spurs, Rashford mentioned in an interview that he was “prepared for a new challenge and the next steps” in his career, which began at the United academy.

“It’s a challenging situation, but I recognize that players of this caliber often have many people around them who make choices that may not align with the player’s original intentions,” Amorim told Sky Sports on Monday.

“They opted to conduct that interview, and it’s not solely about Marcus. I understand that. As a coach, my focus remains on his performance and training.

“I believe it’s best for me and the club to address this when the appropriate time arrives.”

Amorim conveyed his support for Rashford, whose contract runs until 2028, and expressed his desire for the player to remain at United.

The Portuguese manager added that he can “differentiate” his relationship with Rashford from the choices made by his advisors.

“At this moment, my priority is on helping Marcus improve,” Amorim stated.

“We need significant contributions from a talented player like Marcus right now, and I’m putting the interview aside for the time being. I’m focused on what I see on the pitch.”

In the wake of United’s loss to Bournemouth, they currently sit 13th in the Premier League, marking their lowest position at Christmas since 1986.

Amorim’s squad will face Wolves on Boxing Day before hosting Newcastle the following Monday.
