as well as beyond. This information was shared in a press statement on Monday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola.
The State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, is reportedly leading a specialized task force aimed at addressing the increased risk of criminal activity during the holiday season. The police command has stepped up security measures, including the establishment of additional checkpoints and intensified patrols throughout the state.
Both uniformed and plainclothes officers will be strategically positioned to deter crime and reassure the public about their safety. Areas of significance, such as places of worship, parks, government buildings, banks, and the residences of diplomats, will see a heightened police presence.
Odutola also mentioned that high-risk areas that have faced threats in the past, such as Long Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Rounder in Abeokuta, and Ogunmakin, will be closely monitored by armored patrol units.
Furthermore, specialized units such as SWAT, Anti-Cultism, and Anti-Kidnapping teams will conduct regular patrols around educational institutions.
The police are committed to a zero-tolerance policy towards any criminal activities that could disrupt year-end festivities. They have urged individuals with criminal intentions to rethink their actions or be prepared to face severe legal consequences.
Authorities also called on drivers to prioritize safety and exercise patience at roadblocks that have been set up for the community’s benefit.
Odutola emphasized that the command is collaborating with other security agencies to implement a comprehensive security strategy aimed at ensuring peace and safety in Ogun State during this festive season.
“The public is encouraged to cooperate with security personnel and show respect to those on duty who are diligently working to keep everyone safe. Following these security protocols will play a vital role in maintaining a secure environment throughout the holidays,” she stated.
Commissioner of Police CP Lanre Ogunlowo PhD will actively supervise operations and coordinate with Area Commanders to support officers, with a force of 7,777 police officers deployed statewide. The Operations Department is fully prepared to respond decisively to any threats.
