AMVCA 12th Edition: Bovi And Nomzamo Mbatha Announced As Hosts

According to Ireporter Online, Nigeria’s comedian and actor, Bovi Ugboma, alongside South African actress, Nomzamo Mbatha, have been unveiled as co-hosts of the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

The prestigious awards ceremony is scheduled to hold on May 9, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.

Bovi and Nomzamo will be stepping into the spotlight as successors to veteran host IK Osakioduwa, who anchored the AMVCAs for about a decade and became widely associated with the event’s glamour and energy.

Reacting to his selection, Bovi described the opportunity as a major honour, noting that the AMVCA stage remains one of Africa’s biggest entertainment platforms. He said he looks forward to delivering humour, energy, and excitement while celebrating the continent’s thriving storytelling industry.

Nomzamo Mbatha, who enjoys strong international recognition, brings global appeal to the hosting lineup. The actress, producer, and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador gained global attention for her role in “Coming 2 America” and currently stars in and executive produces the epic series “Shaka iLembe,” where she plays Queen Nandi.

The announcement comes as anticipation continues to build ahead of the 12th edition, following the unveiling of nominees for this year’s awards.

Veteran actress Joke Silva has also been appointed as Head Judge, adding experience and credibility to the judging panel as organisers emphasize transparency and excellence in the selection process.

This year’s edition will feature 32 award categories, including 18 jury-decided awards, 11 public-voted categories, and three special recognition honours, setting the stage for a highly competitive and star-studded night.
