Nigerian DJ Sets Guinness World Record Bid To Champion Girl-Child Empowerment

According to Ireporter Online, a Nigerian disc jockey, Amaobi Udeh, popularly known as VDJ Mobi, is set to embark on a 72-hour non-stop livestream in a bid to set a Guinness World Record while promoting girl-child empowerment and awareness on menstrual health.

The initiative, tagged Mobi’s Mixathon, is structured as a continuous DJ performance expected to run for three days without interruption under strict technical and operational guidelines required for official record validation. The Abuja-based DJ explained that the attempt is not only aimed at achieving global recognition but also at drawing attention to educational challenges faced by girls, particularly those linked to inadequate menstrual hygiene support.

VDJ Mobi said the project is being executed in collaboration with the FAB Treasure Foundation, with a focus on providing sanitary products and educational resources to young girls. He noted that the livestream will serve as a platform to amplify conversations around menstrual health, school attendance, and gender-based educational inequality.

He further stated that the broader vision of the project is to merge entertainment with social advocacy, describing it as a “mixing for a cause” initiative designed to inspire conversations around girl-child education and empowerment.

According to him, the campaign reflects his personal journey in the Nigerian creative industry, where he has worked as a wedding and corporate DJ since 2022. He added that the attempt also aims to showcase the technical capability and endurance of Nigerian DJs on a global stage while positioning Abuja within international entertainment records.

The DJ explained that the livestream will adhere strictly to Guinness World Record regulations, including continuous music performance, controlled track repetition rules, and scheduled short breaks. He also noted that logistical arrangements have been made to manage challenges such as fatigue, equipment stability, power supply, and environmental conditions to ensure uninterrupted streaming.

Organisers stated that the event will maintain a minimum number of live viewers throughout the broadcast, while songs will not be repeated within a four-hour interval in line with record guidelines.

VDJ Mobi further expressed optimism that if successful, the record attempt would help expand opportunities for Nigerian creatives and scale entertainment concepts such as the Throwback Silent Disco Experience across African cities.
