According to Ireporter Online, Nollywood actress Victoria Inyama has tendered a public apology following intense criticism over remarks she made during an Instagram live session in which she appeared to support female circumcision.

During the conversation hosted on Daddy Freeze’s Instagram live, Inyama had described female circumcision as “the best thing” that happened to her, recounting her personal experience of undergoing the procedure while living with her grandmother in the village. Her comments, in which she suggested it gave her a sense of power, quickly triggered widespread backlash across social media, with many users condemning her stance on the sensitive issue.

Responding to the controversy in a follow-up video shared on Daddy Freeze’s page, the actress admitted she had been “uninformed” about the broader implications of female genital mutilation (FGM). She explained that her understanding of the practice changed after receiving calls and explanations from people within her circle, including a midwife who clarified the realities and medical consequences associated with FGM.

Inyama further disclosed that she previously believed the practice was “basic” and was unaware that victims were subjected to stitching, adding that she had since learned more about the severity of the procedure. She also referenced a conversation with a church prophetess who revealed her own traumatic experience with FGM at the age of 15, which included hospitalization for a week.
