Human rights activist Gwamnishu Emefiena Harrison has shared on his Facebook page that Kosisochukwu was subjected to severe torture. Unfortunately, the young girl succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital for treatment on February 16.

Harrison further alleges a potential cover-up of the incident, stating that although Okoye has been apprehended by the police, she has not yet been formally charged with murder. He expressed concern over the apparent reluctance of the authorities to bring charges.

In his Facebook post, Harrison stated, “They want to conceal her death. She was brutally tortured and died before arriving at the hospital for treatment on 16th February 2021. Madam Nmesoma is detained at SCID Awka, and, as usual, the police have refused to charge Madam Nmesoma to court for murder. The little girl was brutally tortured, and she died before arriving at the hospital for treatment on 16th February 2021. The poor girl died in the hands of a woman who ought to have treated her like her own child. With bruises covering her body and multiple stabs on her back, a child perished in agony.”

Harrison urged the public to demand that the Anambra State Government and Anambra Police Command take action by charging Madam Nmesoma with murder.
