Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as their new manager, following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo after a reported fallout with club owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Postecoglou, who was relieved of his duties at Tottenham Hotspur in June despite delivering the Europa League title — the club’s first major trophy in 17 years — will now take charge at the City Ground. His departure from Spurs came after a disappointing league campaign that saw the North London side endure their worst finish since the 1976/77 season, ending in 17th place.

In a statement, Marinakis expressed strong confidence in the 60-year-old Australian’s ability to replicate his past successes. He highlighted Postecoglou’s record of winning trophies with Tottenham, Celtic, and Yokohama Marinos, describing him as the ideal figure to drive Nottingham Forest forward.

“We are bringing a coach to the club who has a proven and consistent record of winning trophies. His experience at the highest level, combined with his desire to build something special with us at Forest, makes him the perfect leader to help us achieve our ambitions,” Marinakis said.

Forest currently sit 10th in the Premier League with four points from three matches. Postecoglou’s first assignment will be a challenging away clash against Arsenal on Saturday.

Explaining why the club turned to the Australian, Marinakis praised his attacking brand of football and expressed optimism that his tactical approach and winning mentality could elevate Forest to new heights. “After promotion and steady progress in recent seasons, the next step is to compete with the very best and challenge for trophies. Ange has the credentials to make this possible, and we are excited he is joining us on this ambitious journey,” he added.
