APC Blames PDP For Immigration Stampede During Their Tenure
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) responded on Monday to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the recent fatalities from stampedes at palliative distribution sites…READ MORE…
APC spokesperson Felix Morka issued a statement reminding Nigerians of the tragic 2014 recruitment event for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) that resulted in the deaths of several job seekers in their desperation.
In light of the national sorrow following stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory that claimed lives, Morka accused the PDP of engaging in insensitive political maneuvering.
“Instead of offering genuine condolences to the victims and their families, the PDP decided to politicize this tragedy by blaming the stampedes on the APC-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“These incidents have united all compassionate Nigerians in mourning and reflecting on how better planning and organization could have prevented such tragedies. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
“It is utterly indecent, callous, and disgraceful for the PDP to exploit these tragic events for a senseless attack on an administration dedicated to repairing the damage from nearly twenty years of PDP rule.
“Nigerians have not forgotten the catastrophic stampede during the Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise in 2014 at the Abuja stadium, which occurred under PDP leadership and resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries among job seekers. The PDP’s complaints merely highlight its dismal record of mismanagement and incompetence,” Morka concluded.
