APC Chieftain Discusses Potential Benefits Of El-Rufai’s Alleged Move To SDP In 2027
Francis Okoye, the convener of the All Progressive Congress (APC) South-East Coalition, has commented on the speculated defection of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and his rumored presidential ambitions for 2027. Okoye highlighted the possible implications of such a move on the political landscape….READ ALSO APC Chieftain Warns Gov. Yusuf: “Nomination Of Kwankwaso’s Son Smacks Of Nepotism”
In an interview with Legit, Okoye expressed that if El-Rufai decides to leave the APC, it wouldn’t be a cause for concern. Instead, he suggested that it could further divide the opposition party and strengthen the ruling APC.
Painting a scenario where El-Rufai, along with other prominent politicians like Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, Peter Obi, and former president Atiku Abubakar, represents different parties in the 2027 presidential race, Okoye suggested that such a scenario would favor the APC and its leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Okoye, if El-Rufai represents the SDP, Kwankwaso the NNPP, Obi the LP, and Atiku the PDP, it would lead to a “clean sweep” victory for the APC in the 2027 election.
In summary, Okoye’s perspective suggests that El-Rufai’s potential move to the SDP and his presidential ambitions could ultimately benefit the APC by weakening the opposition and enhancing the ruling party’s chances of electoral success in 2027.
