The nomination of Mustapha Rabiu-Kwankwaso, among three others, for confirmation as commissioners, has drawn sharp rebuke from Yaryasa, who perceives it as a glaring example of nepotism.

Yaryasa expressed grave concerns over Governor Yusuf’s ability to effectively oversee Kwankwaso’s son as a commissioner, citing the influential role Kwankwaso holds over the governor. In a telephone interview with Punch, the former Coordinator of the Tinubu Camping Organisation for Kano South accused Yusuf of nepotism, highlighting previous appointments of the governor’s relatives.

“The nomination of Mustapha Kwankwaso is nothing but a clear-cut demonstration of nepotism by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. This is not the first time he’s demonstrating nepotism because he gave an appointment to one of his relatives before now,” Yaryasa asserted.

Despite acknowledging Senator Kwankwaso’s mentorship of Governor Yusuf, Yaryasa condemned what he described as “selfishness of the highest order,” cautioning against the implications of familial ties on governance. He further emphasized the difficulty in holding Kwankwaso’s son accountable, given the intricate dynamics at play.

Yaryasa’s remarks underscore a growing sentiment within the APC regarding the ethical dimensions of political appointments, particularly in light of familial connections and their potential impact on governance dynamics.
