APC Congratulates Kogi State Governor Usman-Ododo After Tribunal Upholds Election-Victory
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday congratulated Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo after the State Elections Petition Tribunal in Abuja upheld his election victory. The tribunal confirmed Ododo as the rightful winner of the November 11, 2023, governorship election.
A three-member panel led by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu dismissed the petition of Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party. The tribunal ruled that Ajaka failed to provide substantial evidence of the alleged electoral irregularities, as required by Section 135 of the Electoral Act.
In a statement issued by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the party hailed the tribunal’s decision as a significant endorsement of Ododo’s mandate. Morka praised the judiciary’s role in strengthening democracy and expressed gratitude to APC supporters and the people of Kogi State for their unwavering support.
“We congratulate Governor Ododo on his victory at the election petition tribunal,” Morka said. “This verdict is a solid affirmation of the popular mandate handed to him by the Kogi electorate. We urge the opposition to accept the tribunal’s decision and support Governor Ododo in his efforts to advance the state’s development.”
Morka assured that Governor Ododo remains committed to good governance and fulfilling the electorate’s trust through ongoing development policies and projects.
