In the suit filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory with suit number CS/2259/24 on May 3, 2024, by Ehiogie West-Idahosa, SAN, counsel to the claimant, Idahosa accused Martins of authoring an article that depicted him as a fraudster.

Demanding N2 billion as general, punitive, aggravated, and exemplary damages, Idahosa alleged that the publication, titled ‘APC GUBER CANDIDATE, OKPEBHOLO MOCKS OSHIOMHOLE AS IDAHOSA RETURNS FROM FOREIGN TRIP,’ circulated on various social media platforms on May 2, 2024, tarnished his personal and political reputation.

He sought a declaration from the court that the publication is libelous and malicious, along with an order of perpetual injunction restraining Martins from further disseminating similar defamatory content.

Additionally, Idahosa requested an unreserved public apology from Martins, to be published on WhatsApp group chat pages and other social media platforms for four weeks, along with the removal of the defamatory publication.
