APC Includes Account Details In 2027 Timetable Amid Hijack Allegations

According to Ireporter Online, fresh indications have emerged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has now incorporated its official account details into the revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, following alleged attempts by some governors to take control of the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms.

Party insiders alleged that members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) were planning a bulk purchase of the nomination forms ahead of the party’s primary elections. The development, according to multiple sources who spoke with The Leadership, reportedly influenced the initial omission of the party’s account details in an earlier released timetable.

The sources further claimed that the governors intended to buy the forms in large quantities for various elective positions and distribute them to preferred aspirants, particularly those contesting for National Assembly seats.

This alleged pressure, it was gathered, led to the inclusion of the APC’s official account numbers in the updated timetable released on Monday, ensuring that aspirants would individually purchase their nomination forms directly.

The revised schedule also outlines key dates for the party’s primaries, with the presidential primary fixed for May 23, 2026, while governorship primaries are slated for May 20, 2026. State House of Assembly primaries are scheduled for the same day as governorship primaries, Senate primaries for May 18, and House of Representatives primaries for May 15, 2026.

Meanwhile, reports suggesting that President Bola Tinubu had empowered APC governors to determine candidates for the 2027 elections have continued to generate reactions within political circles.

When contacted, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, declined to comment directly on the allegations. However, through his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, he assured that the party would conduct transparent and credible primaries across all states.

Nwachuku emphasized that Governor Uzodimma remains committed to internal democracy and fair competition, urging aspirants to remain loyal, disciplined, and sportsmanlike, while supporting the party regardless of primary outcomes.

Efforts to get official reactions from the APC National Working Committee were unsuccessful, as key officials, including the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, did not respond to inquiries.

However, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Duro Meseko, had earlier dismissed claims of restricted access to nomination forms, insisting that all qualified party members are free to participate.

He stated that there is no limitation on the purchase of forms, adding that “nomination forms are open to all members of the All Progressives Congress contesting elections.”
