APC Suspends Fubara Over Alleged Anti-Party Actions
Members and the Ward 4 Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State, have indefinitely suspended Fubara Dagogo over his legal challenge against the party’s upcoming convention.
According to party officials, the suspension followed Dagogo’s decision to approach the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to halt the APC’s planned convention. Dagogo had claimed that he was unfairly excluded from contesting the position of National Vice-Chairman (South-South) despite paying ₦5.1 million for the nomination form, which he alleged the party failed to issue to him.
In his suit, Dagogo requested the court to suspend the South-South zonal congress, declare him eligible to contest, nullify any election conducted without his participation, and award him ₦100 million in damages.
The Ward 4 executive committee described Dagogo’s actions as gross misconduct and anti-party activities, citing violations of the APC Constitution. The suspension was conveyed by the ward chairman, Richard Ibani, following a committee meeting on March 16, and was endorsed by the ward secretary, Donald Jumbo, along with 21 other committee members.
The committee accused Dagogo of engaging in activities capable of embarrassing the party and contravening Article 21.2 (I), (II), and (VII) of the APC Constitution 2022 (as amended). “The ward exco has always advised its members to desist from actions capable of ridiculing our party, but your recent actions have shown that you are not willing to respect and abide by the constitution and actions of our great party,” the statement read.
The suspension takes immediate effect, with the ward leaders requesting the state secretariat to endorse the resolution and take necessary actions.
