The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governors over their condemnation of the recently concluded bye-elections held in 12 states across Nigeria.

According to iReporter Online, the APC, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the PDP’s claims as baseless and an attempt to mislead the public.

The ruling party dismissed the communique released by the PDP Governors’ Forum after their meeting in Zamfara State, in which the opposition accused the APC of lacking vision and engaging in anti-democratic practices.

Morka responded by branding the PDP “a party in deep decline,” riddled with internal conflicts and rapidly losing public support.

Rather than confront its internal disunity, the PDP, he said, has chosen to deflect blame by leveling what he called “frivolous allegations” against the APC. “It is comical for the governors of the PDP, a party crippled by intractable crises and reduced to a shadow of its old self, to accuse the APC of undemocratic conduct,” he added.

According to iReporter Online, the APC further defended its performance in the August 16 bye-elections, pointing to the results as evidence of growing public confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the effectiveness of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The party maintained that the outcome of the polls clearly demonstrated the electorate’s rejection of the PDP and its outdated style of governance.

In a sharp rebuke, the APC also accused PDP-led states of failing to deliver good governance despite receiving what it described as “unprecedented federal allocations” under the Tinubu administration.

According to iReporter Online, the ruling party disclosed that over ₦2 trillion had been disbursed to state governments as of July 2025—an amount said to be the highest in Nigeria’s fiscal history.

Despite this, many PDP-governed states were labeled as underperforming and mismanaged.

“Nigeria will not return to the dark era of PDP rule when many states were bankrupt and unable to pay salaries,” the APC stated, urging the opposition governors to channel their energy into reforming their “terminally ailing” party rather than spreading misinformation about the current administration.
